Current PV (Photovoltaic) developments in Romania

  • Montana Energy, part of the GoodEnergies investment fund, will build the first photovoltaic park in NE Romania (Moldavia) on a plot of 2 hectares. It is aimed that the park will supply electricity to the homes in Targu Frumos. The investment is estimated at 2 million EUR.
  • ICCO Group and the U.S. company Lockheed Martin recently inaugurated the first private project of a smart electrical grid (Smart Grid) of Romania. The development takes place at Ghimbav (Brasov), integrates photovoltaic panels and wind turbines and totals an investment of 15 million USD.
  •  The largest investment in solar energy in Botosani has been recently kicked off . A private local businessman began to build in the area a photovoltaic park worth 15 million EUR.
  • The city of Târnăveni will be one of the most important centers for solar energy production in Romania, when the local solar-power park will be completed. The total investment will be about 72 million EUR and the company that won the tender for its assembly is Stark Sol Power, based in Timisoara. The park will include over 150,000 photovoltaic panels over 5 kilometers of underground power lines and over 300 kilometers of electric cables inside the park.
  • Recently the first investment in a solar-power park for renewable energy production in Ialomita was kicked-off by Gigawatt Global România. The park will consist of approximately 32,000 solar panels, 250 watts per panel, 16 units of 500 KW inverters and the output will be 8 MWto be 'injected' into the national energy system. The execution term of project will be six months.
