Is doing business or investing in Romania concerning to you because you consider this country too corrupt?
Romania’s anticorruption fight has recently been acknowledged by the European Commission’s Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM)
Romania has been one of the best-performing economies in the European Union in 2015, with a GDP growth rate for the whole year estimated at close to 4%, and its performances may continue to improve this year, due to tax cuts and salary increases, which may further boost domestic consumption and may bring new investors to the country.
“Over the last year, Romania and Romanians have shown their willingness to fight corruption and to protect the independence of the judiciary. The mass demonstrations against corruption have shown how these issues matter to Romanian citizens,” said the European Commission’s First Vice-President Frans Timmermans.
In 2015, Romania ranks 11 levels better in corruption index. With a score of 46 points, Romania ranks 58th out of 168 countries included in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2015. In 2014, Romania ranked 69th out of 175 countries surveyed, with a score of 43 points (the same as in 2013).
Romania scores better than Italy (61st), Turkey (66th), Bulgaria (69th), and Serbia (71st).
