Imports of tractors, agricultural equipment and farm machinery in Romania


In 2014, Romania imported over 11,700 tractors, up by 33.7% compared to the previous year. Their total value exceeded EUR 502.9 million, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Most of the tractors were imported from Germany: 2,477 pieces worth 125.8 million EUR.

In the first ten months of 2015 Romania imported tractors worth 497 million EUR, up 17.58% compared with the same period in 2014 according to the Ministry of Economy.

According to a centralization of the Ministry of Agriculture, Romania has a fleet of 193,120 tractors nationwide. The counties that own most of the tractors are Timis (10,592), Bihor (9,776), Dolj (7,716) and Satu Mare (7,377).

  • Brands of imported machinery: Massey Ferguson, Laverda, Kverneland, Gallignani, Dieci, Gregoire, Clemens Tehnologies, Maschio Gaspardo, Sigma 4, Morra Machine Agricole, Bauer, Vicon, Oehler Maschinen, McCormick
  • Net turnover in 2014: 31.7 million EUR, which according to the FRD Center's analysis is up by 35% compared to 2013
  • Other info: General Leasing has launched in June 2015 a new regional centre located in Iasi county (NE Romania) following investments of 750,000 EUR. The company regularly participates at various international and local trade fairs, such as Agraria, Indagra, RomAgro Tec

  • Net turnover in 2014: 16.9 million EUR, which according to the FRD Center's analysis is up by 29% compared to 2013
  • Other info: IRUM has the annual production capacity of 500 agricultural tractors, 250 forestry tractors and 1,200 tonnes of castings. Its factory covers a surface of 175,000 sqm in Mures county (Centre Romania). IRUM exports its products to Germany, France, Spain, Bulgaria or Italy. The company has inaugurated in 2015 a R&D centre of agricultural and forestry machinery.
