Romanian Industrial Manufacturing sector - the most dynamic in Europe

Romanian industrial output grew by 8.2% in gross series in 2017 compared to the previous year, mainly due to increases in
- industrial manufacturing: +8.9%
- mining and quarrying: +5.9%

The average industrial production for the year 2017, compared with 2016, rose by 3% in the euro area and by 3.3% in the EU28.

In December 2017, industrial production in Romania jumped 12.2% year-on-year, accelerating from a 9.9% rise in the prior month. It was the highest growth in industrial output, based on manufacturing (+16.6%) and mining (+6.1%).

In December 2017 vs. December 2016 Romania registered the highest increase in industrial production of 13.5%, compared to the 4.8% average in the EU28.

In the period Jan-Nov 2017, Romania imported Lathes (including turning centres) for removing metal worth over 32 mEUR and Industrial robots worth more than 31.5 mEUR.

In 2016 the Romanian imports of Industrial Robots - TARIC 847950 - registered some EUR 42.5m According to the FRD Center analysis, this represents a growth of 31.2%, after a growth of 98.3% the previous year.

According to the same source, the Romanian imports of TARIC 851521 - Fully or partly automatic machines and apparatus for resistance welding of metal in the first 11 months of 2017 vs. the similar period of 2016 went up more than 50%.
